Connecticut Farm Dinners You Should Attend This Summer

Max Chef To Farm Dinner Series

The Max Restaurant Group Chef to Farm series includes ten dinners and four festivals during the summer and fall months. They are all themed and include topics such as BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass, Lobsterfest and Hoptoberfest. All of the dinners include a cocktail hour with passed appetizers and a farm tour, followed by a multi-course candlelit dinner featuring food sourced daily from farmers and fishermen. 

Dinners will be held on July 13th, 15th, 18th, 27th, 28th, August 9th, 24th, 30th, September 13th, and October 18th.  Festivals are on June 17th, August 5th, 26th, September 23rd, and October 7th. Times and ticket prices vary per event. Hadley and Occum by DORO Restaurant Group

DORO Restaurant Group, comprised of Treva Restaurant and Bar, Avert Brasserie, Artisanal Burger Company, and Zohara, is holding a farm dinner and festival series at Subedge Farm in Farmington, CT. Held on seven nights this summer, each dinner or festival will be led by a different DORO Restaurant Group chef. Each dinner includes a farm tour by Subedge owners Isabelle and Rodger, and then a multi-course feast, as well as beverage tastings. 

Dinners will be held on June 21st, June 25th, August 2nd, September 7th, and October 4th. Festivals are on July 14th, and September 8th. For more information and to purchase tickets visit their site here.

Dinners At The Farm

In its 12th season, Dinners At The Farm is hosted by River Tavern Restaurant and held over a course of two weeks at both White Gate Farm and Barberry Hill Farm. The dinner series has raised over $150,000 for food related charities throughout the state and directly purchased over $200,000 of product from Connecticut farmers and purveyors. The dinner consists of a farm tour, a multi-course meal prepared with ingredients from right outside the tent, and libations. The menu changes daily depending on ingredients that are available. 

This year's dates are August 1-4 at White Gate Farm in East Lyme, and August 8-11 at Barberry Hill Farm in Madison, CT. Tickets are $125 for weeknights and $150 for weekends. For more information and to purchase tickets visit dinnersatthefarm.com

 

Oyster Club and Engine Room at Stone Acres Farms 

Oyster Club and Engine Room will be hosting three dinners this summer at their sister farm, Stone Acres Farms. The first is a Viking Fire Dinner in conjunction with Mystic Seaport, where all the courses will be cooked over an open wood fire. The July dinner is all about farm cocktails, and in August you can enjoy a heirloom tomato jubilee. 

This years dates are June 15th, July 13th, and August 26th, all at 7:00 pm. and tickets will be sold for $85. For more information and to purchase tickets visit oysterclubct.com.

 

Billy Grant Farm Dinner Series

Chef Billy Grant along with Chef Jay Groten of Grants Restaurant, and Corey Cannon of Bricco Trattoria are hosting their annual summer farm dinner series at Rose's Berry Farm in Glastonbury. The three dinners will include creative cocktails, craft beer and wine, passed and stationary appetizers, a multi-course dinner and dessert. 

Tickets are $120 plus tax and 18% gratuity. Dinners will be held on June 22, August 17 and September 14, 2018, and will all begin at 6:30 pm. For more information visit billygrant.com.

Outstanding In The Field

Outstanding In The Field is a farm dinner series that travels all over the county- and world. This year they are making a two night stop in Connecticut. The dinners will be cooked by local chef Jeff Taibe of Taproot Restaurant in Bethel and will be held at The Hickories in Ridgefield.

The dinners at The Hickories are on September 12th and 13th. All dinners begin at 3pm and tickets are $255 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets visit outstandinginthefield.com.

 

Friends of Boulder Knoll Farm to Table Dinner

Jason Sobocinski, owner of Caseus Fromagerie and Ordinary in New Haven will be cooking up a farm fresh feast that will be paired with Black Hog Brewery beer. The dinner will feature live music and a silent auction of items from local businesses. All proceeds benefit Friends of Boulder Knoll's mission and education programming.

Massaro Farms Dinner On The Farm

Massaro Farms in Woodbridge is hosting their annual Dinner On The Farm event on September 2nd with Chef Denise Appel from Zinc. The dinner includes a farm tour with farmer Steve Munno, followed by an all inclusive meal with an open bar, a silent auction, and lawn games. Proceeds support the farm's commitment to farm based education and food donations to those in need. 

The dinner is on September 2, 2018 from 4:30-9pm. Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased here.

 

Republic and Auer Farm Dinners

Republic Gastropub is holding a Sunset and Wine Dinner at Auer Farm in Bloomflield this August with live music, a hay wagon ride to sunset overlook and a four course dinner with wine pairings. In September, Republic at the Linden is partnering with Auer Farm, Holcomb Farm and MRG Catering to put on an end of summer farm to table brunch benefiting The Judy Dworin Performance Project. Brunch will feature live musical performances and and a buffet style meal. 

Dinner is on August 17th from 6-10pm. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased here. Brunch is on September 22, 2018 beginning at 11am. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased here. Space is limited. 

 

Killam and Bassette Farmstead Dinners

Killam and Bassette Farmstead is hosting a harvest farm dinner and a pig roast this summer. All proceeds will benefit the Judy Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund for Glastonbury High School Seniors. All events include hayrides, live music and wine tastings. 

The harvest farm dinner prepared by Chef Abby Bassette is on July 15th at 4:00 p.m. and is $75. The pig roast is on September 15 at 5:30 p.m. and is $75 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets visit kandbfarmstead.com.
