Twelve Days of Chefmas: Judith Roll

While we love inundating your Instagram feeds with daily doses of food porn, we are firm believers that you should know the people behind your food as well as where it is coming from. Our 12 Days of Chefmas series seeks to introduce you to the faces behind some of your favorite restaurants and brands. Follow along for the next 12 days as we help you get to know these talented humans a little better.

Judith Roll | Judy's Bar and Kitchen, Stamford

How you got started in the kitchen:

I grew up with a hard working Mom and Dad, a food loving family with three hungry siblings.  I always loved being in the kitchen. It became my thing to cook dinner a few times a week.

Your favorite ingredient to work with:

Summer veggies- any and all!

Favorite item on your menu:

On a "clean" eating day, our jerk salmon with quinoa, grilled veggies and grilled plantains.  Healthy and so satisfying.  On a "not so clean" eating day, anything from our smoker with slaw and mac 'n cheese.

Favorite holiday dish to eat or cook:

From Tabouli Grill for Rosh Hashanah- Bubbe's brisket with kasha varnishke.  It's my childhood.

Restaurant in CT that you're dying to try:

Teff Restaurant in Stamford.

Funniest kitchen story:

Tripping on my way into Tabouli's back door with very large containers of yogurt in both arms.  I didn't know yogurt could fly.  Apparently I can't.  We have many laughs replaying that security video segment.
