10 Things You Should Eat During The Super Bowl

10 Things You Should Eat During The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl means football...and food. And with so many options all over the state, we thought we'd help you narrow it down. Here is our guide to 10 Things You Should Eat During The Super Bowl:

1. Bears BBQ Super Bowl Package

Bear's Smokehouse BBQ has a special Super Bowl package available for pick-up or eat-in at both their Hartford and Windsor locations. You get 3 lbs of pork, 2 dozen wings, 3 pints of sides and 2 dozen slider rolls for $80. Prettyyyy good deal if you ask us.

2. Archie Moore's Buffalo Chicken Wrap

Archie Moore's is noted for their buffalo sauce, so why not smother it all over some crispy chicken tenders and stuff it in a wrap? They have five locations in New Haven, Wallingford, Fairfield, Milford and Derby and all will be showing the game on their multiple TV's. Hunker down with a wrap (or two) and enjoy the game.

3. Goldburgers Mac and Cheese Squares

Goldburgers in Newington won't be open for game (nor do they even have TV's), but we highlyyy recommend ordering some take-out. They are all about gluttonous, over the top food, while still using as many local farms and purveyors as they can. Talk about awesome. And their mac and cheese squares are the perfect food to eat while yelling at the TV.

4. J. Timothy's Dirty Buffalo Wings

Where do we even start? If you've never had J. Timothy's wings, can we recommend changing that? Stat? Located in Plainville, they offer their wings in buffalo, honey gold bbq, teriyaki, and sweet red chili, and you NEED to order them "dirt style." Dirt style means they are fried, sauced and fried again, resulting in caramelized, crispy wings that are OH SO GOOD. Last year they were fully booked for wing orders before Super Bowl Sunday even rolled around, so you should definitely call ahead.

5. Bartaco's Guacamole

Chips and guac are kind of required on Super Bowl Sunday, amirite? Bartaco has locations in West Hartford, Stamford and Westport, and to make ordering even easier, you can do so on their website or via their new take-out app. Since they'll be closed on Super Bowl Sunday, make sure you get all your chips and salsa and guac the night before. We would hate for your guacamole dreams to be crushed.

6. DiFiore's Thirty Inch Sub

DiFiore Ravioli Shop, a family owned and operated pasta shop, with locations in Rocky Hill and Hartford, is offering a 30 inch Italian Combo sub for take-out on Super Bowl Sunday. Perfect for a large party (or an eating challenge), it is filled with capicola, genoa salami, ham, provolone, lettuce and tomato and weighs in at over 5 lbs.  To order, give them a call at least a day in advance. They are also serving garlic parmesan and sweet and smokey garlic chili wings, calzones, stromboli and more for the big game.

7. Plan B's Blue Chips

Plan B Burger Bar's Blue Chips are a great alternative to traditional nachos. House-made potato chips covered in blue cheese sauce, tomatoes, bacon, red onion, and jalapenos really hits the spot during a game (or any other hour of the day really). They'll be playing the game at their locations in Fairfield, Glastonbury, Milford, Simsbury, Stamford and West Hartford.

8. Eli's Tavern's Jumbo Pretzel

What is better than a giant soft pretzel with beer cheese and mustard? Not a lot, to be honest. Eli's Tavern in Milford will have the games on their 8+ TVs and you should probably order this while you watch. Their other locations in Hamden, Branford, and Orange will also have the game on, but sadly don't have the pretzel on the menu.

9. Half Door's Cobblestones

Mini steak and cheese sandwiches with melted cheese and sauteed onions? We're all in.  The Half Door, in the west end of Hartford, is a great place to grab like 9 beers and watch the game. They also have an outstanding brunch, so maybe go for that and then just stay? Not the worst idea in the world.  Just saying.

10. Anna Liffey's Onion Rings

Anna Liffey's has over 40 TV's, 2 full bars, wing and beer specials all day, and the crispiest onion rings. Both their Fairfield and New Haven locations open at noon, so you can start day drinking wellll before the game. So go get rowdy.
