Goldberg's Bagels Opens Second West Hartford Location

Goldberg's Bagels opened their third location, and second in West Hartford on Tuesday. The new storefront is located at 38-44 Isham Road in Blue Back Square and occupies the former Posh Tomato space.

Called "Goldberg's Gourmet" this location has a slightly more extensive menu which includes additional salads and sandwiches to satisfy the lunchtime crowd. With a more extensive menu comes longer hours as well. The Blue Back location will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Sundays, and until 2 a.m on Friday and Saturdays. According to co-owner Chad Kirby, they'll be keeping the full menu during their late night hours for now but anticipate "that most customers will want breakfast sandwiches and burgers."

Kirby along with co-owner Dan Taskila opened their first location in 2003, after Taskila worked in a kosher bagel store and enjoyed the business. Commenting on the Blue Back location, Kirby said, "Having lived in West Hartford for 18 years and owning our store in Elmwood, we love West Hartford. It's a great town and we thought Blue Back was a great opportunity to bring our food to more residents of West Hartford."

Goldberg's is known for their gluttonous breakfast sandwiches, our favorite being the Mother Clucker, pictured above. A bagel is filled with a fried chicken cutlet, fried egg, pepper jack cheese and sriracha aioli. But don't worry, they also have menu items on the healthier side as well. Their Fit Frappe only has 130 calories, and they offer a large selection of salads, smoothies and wraps.
