Farm Dinners You Should Attend This Summer

Dinners At The Farm
In its 10th season, Dinners At The Farm is hosted by River Tavern Restaurant and held over a course of two weeks at both White Gate Farm and Barberry Hill Farm. Over the past 10 years, the dinner series has raised over $150,000 for food related charities throughout the state and directly purchased over $200,000 of product from Connecticut farmers and purveyors. The dinner consists of a farm tour, a multi-course meal prepared with ingredients from right outside the tent, and libations. The menu changes daily depending on ingredients that are available.
This year's dates are July 13-17 at White Gate Farm in East Lyme, and August 10-14 at Barberry Hill Farm in Madison, CT. Tickets are $125 for weeknights and $150 for weekends. For more information and to purchase tickets visit dinnersatthefarm.com.
Rooster Company Dinner at Auer Farm
Rooster Company is holding a few farm dinners at Auer Farm in Bloomfield this summer. The first, in June, featuring a whole hog from Proctor Hall Farm, and the second, in July, featuring bounty from the land and sea. The events includes a craft cocktail, rose, and a featured IPA along with an antipasto table, passed hors d'oeuvres and a family style dinner. Alongside the whole hog, guests will be served dishes like a kale caesar, smoked corn polenta, lemon thyme poppy seed cake and local honey ice cream.
The whole hog dinner is on June 30th at 6pm and is $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity. The land and sea dinner is on July 28th at 6:30pm and tickets are $80 per person. For more information visit roostercompany.net and for reservations call the restaurant at (860) 757-3969.

Max Chef To Farm Dinner Series
The Max Restaurant Group Chef to Farm series includes ten dinners and four festivals during the summer and fall months. They are all themed and include topics such as BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass, Pomodoro and Hoptoberfest. All dinners include include a cocktail hour with passed appetizers and a farm tour, followed by a multi-course candlelit dinner featuring food sourced daily from farmers, ranchers and fishermen.
Dinners will be held on June 30, July 8, 14, 21, August 11, 18, 26, and September 1, 15, 2016. Festivals are on July 10, August 28 and October 9. Times and ticket prices vary per event. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit maxcheftofarm.com.

Cook and the Bear BBQ at the Farm
Cook and the Bear, a collaborative restaurant by Chef Tyler Anderson of Millwrights and Jamie McDonald of Bear's Smokehouse BBQ is set to open this August in West Hartford. Join them at the Community Farm of Simsbury for a preview of dishes that will be served in the new restaurant. Food will be paired with a variety of beverages, including beer from Black Hog Brewery. All profits will benefit Gifts of Love and Community Farm of Simsbury.

Outstanding In The Field
Outstanding In The Field is a farm dinner series that travels all over the county- and world. This year they are making three stops in Connecticut with local chefs hosting the feasts. There will be one dinner at Waldingfield Farm in Washington with Chef Drew Stitcher of Hidden Valley Eatery and two dinners at The Hickories in Ridgefield with Chef Pat Pascarella of Bar Sugo in Norwalk and Chef Carlos Baez of The Spread in Norwalk.
The Waldingfield Farm dinner is on September 10, and the dinners at The Hickories are on September 11 and 12. All dinners begin at 3pm and tickets are $225 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets visit outstandinginthefield.com.
Friends of Boulder Knoll Farm to Table Dinner
Jason Sobocinski, owner of Caseus Fromagerie and Ordinary in New Haven will be cooking up a farm fresh feast that will be paired with Black Hog Brewery beer. The dinner will feature live music and a silent auction of items from local businesses. All proceeds benefit Friends of Boulder Knoll's mission and education programming.

Holbrook Farm Market Farm Dinners
In this farm dinner series they have chosen chefs from all over Fairfield County that are "not only exemplary in their fields, but also truly support all of us farmers in the area." Each month has a different theme and they are strictly sourcing from their local farm friends. The first two dinners in June feature chef Aki Arai of House of Yoshida, and chef Jeff Taibe of Kawa Ni. In July, Geoff Lazlo of Mill Street, and Morgan Vondle of Mezon Tapas Bar, and Tony Pham of Mecha Noodle Bar will be cooking on the farm.
The first dinner with Aki Arai is June 25th, and the dinner with Jeff Taibe is June 26th. Morgan Vondle and Tony Pham's joint dinner is on July 23rd, and Geoff Lazlo's dinner is on July 24th. Tickets are $100 per person and include passed and stationary appetizers, an assortment of veggies and salads, your featured meal and dessert. Alcohol is BYOB. Farm to Table Dinner At Castle Hill Farm
Some Things Fishy Catering is hosting a farm dinner at Castle Hill Farm in Newtown, CT on July 17th. Farmers and purveyors from Sport Hill Farm, Castle Hill Farm, Berkshire Mountain Bakery and more will be there to introduce their products. The event in BYOB and live music will be provided. The menu includes items such as a poached lobster bite with shiso pesto, burrata stuffed heirloom tomatoes, heritage pork carnitas, and zucchini-peach crumble.

Eddy Farm Dinner Series with Goldburgers
Chef Tim Marotto of Goldburgers in Newington is returning to Eddy Farm this summer for their farm dinner series. This year there are three dates, one each in June, July and October. Chef Tim will be serving a multi course, prix fixe seasonal feast with all local sourcing. The dinners are all BYOB.
The dinners are held on June 23, July 21, and October 2, 2016 and are $75 a person, cash. Tickets are available at Goldburgers Restaurant at 1096 Main Street, Newington. All dinners are BYOB. For more information visit EddyFarmCT.com.
Killam and Bassette Farmstead Dinners
Killam and Bassette Farmstead is hosting three dinners this summer, including a Mex-A-Que with Sayulita Restaurant, a family style farm dinner with Dish Restaurant and a pig roast. All events include hayrides, live music and wine tastings.
The Mex-A-Que is on July 17 at 3 p.m. and tickets are $90 each. The farm dinner with Dish Restaurant is on August 20 at 5:30 p.m. and is $95. The pig roast is on September 17 at 5:30 p.m. and is $75 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets visit kandbfarmstead.com.
Field House Farms Field To Table Dinner
Enjoy a tour of the farm with complimentary wine and then sit down for a 4-5 course dinner prepared by Chef David Borselle. Wine pairings are included with dinner and Hen and Heifer Bakery provides the desserts. The night comes to a close after a selection of after dinner drinks have been enjoyed.
